UEFA European Championships 2024 Prediction Competition

Introduction

The UEFA European Championships Finals 2024 commence on Friday 14th June 2024 at 20.00 GMT in Germany.

The Prediction Competition requires each participant to predict the outcome of all 51 matches in the tournament, gaining points for correct and partially correct predictions or losing points for incorrect predictions. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the competition to the participants gaining the most points. The number of prize places available will depend on the number of participants where more participants means more prize places.

In addition to the main prediction competition there will also be a number of bonus competitions running alongside. These have smaller prizes but are designed to (hopefully) keep interest for everyone taking part even if your main entry is not going so well. The bonus competitions run throughout the tournament including the Final itself. The number of bonus competitions run will again depend on the number of participants overall. The more taking part, the greater the number of bonus competitions and the value of the corresponding prizes.

You can submit as many entries as you wish. Multiple entries for yourself are very welcome as are entries on behalf of family members, friends, work colleagues, pets and so on.

Entry Fees

Entry fee is £6 per entry. Why £6 and not a more straightforward £5? Well, that’s because I like to include a charitable element where possible. Please see below for details.

In terms of payment, anyone who knows me personally can make payment by cash or bank transfer should they wish. Otherwise, payment will need to be made via PayPal using the “Make Payment” option from the menu strip. To do this you will need a PayPal account but personal accounts are free and you will not be charged for paying the entry fee(s).

Charity

There will be a charitable element to the competition with £1 from every entry fee being put into a pot to be paid to a chosen charity at the end of the competition. The other £5 will be put into the overall prize pot from which I pay out the prizes. **

The benefiting charity is still to be decided. I will ask for suggestions from everyone. It can be a major charity or a smaller local charity.

If you prefer not to support the charitable element of the competition that is absolutely fine. It is completely voluntary. Please do not feel obliged or uncomfortable if you prefer to opt out. To pay just the entry fee for the competition please simply select the £5 entry fee option when making payment.

** Please note that I charge no admin fees and make no profit from running this competition. The same is not true of PayPal however. They are a business after all. They charge 9% of every entry fee paid through them, i.e. 54p per £6 entry fee. I will be covering this charge up to a maximum of £100 to ensure that there are no deductions from amount paid to the charity but, unlike PayPal, I am not a business and need to cap my contribution at £100. As such, should I receive more than 185 entries, from the 186th entry onwards the 54p PayPal charge will deducted from the amount of each entry fee added to the overall prize pot, i.e. £4.46 will be added per entry from the 186th entry onwards. The charity will continue to receive the full £1 from every entry regardless of how many entries I receive.

Closing Date

All entries must be submitted on the website by 20:00 GMT on Friday 14th June 2024 at which point entry will be closed. Before then, however, it will be possible to make changes to your predictions as many times as you wish right up until the kick-off of Match 1.
