Point Scoring
The point scoring system detailed below looks complicated but has been designed to reflect the relative degree of difficulty predicting the various possible results. For instance, results of 1-0, 0-1, 2-1, 1-2, 2-0 and 0-2 are the most common and most likely. Thus, these score slightly less than correct predictions of draws or higher scoring matches. Negative points can also be scored where predictions are incorrect, especially predictions that are way off the mark.
Points will be awarded for each match as follows :

| (f) Correctly predicting a draw (correct score or not) | 1 |
| (g) Correctly predicting an away win (correct score or not) | 1 |
| (h) Exactly correct score (<= 4 goals in the match) | 2 |
| (i) Exactly correct score (> 4 goals in the match) | 3 |
| (j) Correct outcome and goal difference (GD) in match but wrong score | 1 |
| (k) Correctly predicting > 5 goals in a match (correct outcome or not) | 1 |
| (l) Correct outcome but diff between predicted GD & actual GD > 3 goals | -1 |
| (m) Incorrect outcome and diff between predicted GD & actual GD <= 3 goals | -1 |
| (n) Incorrect outcome and diff between predicted GD & actual GD > 3 goals | -2 |
| (o) Difference in goals predicted & actual goals scored in match > 4 goals | -1 |

Predictions:
Manchester City 4 Liverpool 0 – scores 9 points – (a) + (b) + (c) + (d) + (h) (i.e. 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 9)
Manchester City 4 Liverpool 1 – scores 6 points – (a) + (b) + (d) (i.e. 4 + 1 + 1 = 6)
Manchester City 2 Liverpool 0 – scores 5 points – (a) + (c) (i.e. 4 + 1 = 5)
Manchester City 1 Liverpool 1 – scores -2 points – (n) (i.e. -2 only = -2)
Manchester City 0 Liverpool 0 – scores -1 point – (c) + (n) (i.e. 1 – 2 = -1)
Manchester City 0 Liverpool 2 – scores -2 points – (n) (i.e. -2 only = -2)
